About YUD'25

The Young Urban Designers (YUD) Competition is a flagship event of the Institute of Urban Designers, India (IUDI) National Conference 2024-25, scheduled to take place in Kolkata on 7th and 8th of March, 2025. This engaging initiative aims to spotlight emerging talent and foster innovation in urban design by engaging the brightest minds from across the country.
The Young Urban Designers (YUD) Competition brings together students from Urban Design institutes across the country to address real-world urban challenges. Through workshops and feedback sessions, participants develop strategies that respond to current real estate markets and societal needs. The competition provides a platform for emerging designers to collaborate with peers and mentors while showcasing their work on a national stage. This initiative aims to foster knowledge exchange and shared learning among the next generation of urban designers.

Eligibility
- Teams of 5 people ( maximum ) and 2 people (minimum) from Institutions in India offering a Master’s Course in Urban Design will be able to participate in the competition.
- Participants must be students of Urban Design or Young Graduates (less than 2 years since graduation) and may be a mix.
- All participants whether Student or Recent Graduate must be from the Same Institution offering Post Graduate Degree in Urban Design.
- There may be multiple teams from Same Institution.
- At least one member in the team should be a current Post Graduate Master’s student in Urban Design from India.

Amidst the present scenario of unprecedented growth and change across all levels of urban settlements, especially in our part of the world, the need for increased networking and dialogue between the participants of such change becomes imperative. The emerging directions of change and developmental choices as witnessed all around us today raises immense challenges and possibilities towards a dynamic and contributory role of the urban design profession within different societal conditions. It is at this significant juncture that the Institute of Urban Designers India (IUDI) as a national level association of urban design professionals, academicians and practitioners operate.
IUDI holds various conferences, meets, exhibitions, lectures and congresses to discussion and exchange views and for the exposition of any matters affecting or relating to the practice and/or theory of Urban Design or any allied subject.
